What's new in Lymphedema treatment?

Kinesio Tape
Kinesio Tape is placed over the swollen areas to improve blood and lymphatic circulation. This technique utilizes muscle contraction and relaxation to promote lymphatic flow and decrease pain in the skin and muscle. The tape is left on for three to five days and it is helpful in decreasing swelling of difficult and stubborn areas. Your therapist initially applies the tape and then self-application techniques are taught to allow independent management.

Jovi/Tribute Night Garments
As an adjunct to other lymphedema management techniques, the Jovi and Tribute garments can further decrease swelling. The garments are custom made and take the place of bandaging at night. They are effective in reducing and softening the fibrotic tissue as well as helping to create new pathways for lymphatic flow. Physical and occupational therapists at Select Physical Therapy measure for these garments, which can be made for any body part based on your specific needs.
