Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy is defined as the "treatment of physical dysfunction or injury by the use of therapeutic exercise and the application of modalities, intended to restore or facilitate normal function or development." Physical therapists practice in a broad range of inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings.

At Select Physical Therapy, our experienced therapists specialize in providing outpatient services for breast cancer rehabilitation, lymphedema, general orthopaedic rehab, pain management, and a variety of women's health issues such as pain with pregnancy, urinary leakage, pelvic pain, and osteoporosis. Our therapy programs emphasize the use of manual therapy techniques and self-management programs. However, each therapy program is individually designed to meet the needs of the patient.

A large portion of our breast cancer rehabilitation focuses on lymphedema management. Our lymphedema program is nationally recognized as one of the first and largest in the Midwest. Our therapists are specially trained in lymph drainage massage, medical compression bandaging, exercise, and skin care to assist with management of lymphedema. Our goal in therapy is to teach the patient self-management techniques to continue benefiting from therapy at home.

Women's health is another focus of our practice. We currently have four physical therapists who are specially trained in treatment of urinary leakage and pelvic dysfunction. These therapists evaluate and treat these problems in a professional, private, and gentle manner.

Yet another specialty we offer at Select Physical Therapy is CranioSacral therapy. CranioSacral Therapy requires specialized training, and we currently have four therapists who offer this treatment approach. CranioSacral therapy's largest patient groups are those who suffer from chronic symptoms that have not been aided by other treatment approaches.

Another treatment approach that many of our programs are based on is Myofascial Release. This involves the release of tension in the connective tissues of the body.

At Select Physical Therapy, we understand that illness, pain, and dysfunction can have a profound impact on your quality of life. Our experienced staff is sensitive to each individual's needs and readily available to share with you their experience and specialties.
