Urinary leakage is often experienced as a result of pregnancy, abdominal surgery, strenuous exercise, obesity, or estrogen loss due to menopause. Although it is common to have urinary leakage, it is not "normal". Stress Incontinence: The involuntary loss of urine when you cough, laugh, sneeze, strain, lift, or exercise. Often this is caused from weak pelvic floor muscles. Urge Incontinence: A sudden or strong need to urinate with few seconds or minutes warning. Often, you are unable to make it to the bathroom and you experience leakage. Mixed Incontinence: A combination of stress and urge incontinence. The therapists at Select Physical Therapy treat patients with some or all of the following techniques: Exercise, Biofeedback, Electrical Stimulation, and Behavioral Modification.
